Mercito “No Mercy” Gesta has fought in several weight classes ranging from 110 to 135 pounds. He moved from Cebu, Philippines to the United States to further his boxing career in 2006. He has recently learned how to speak English and drive a car.

Mercito “No Mercy” Gesta and Antonio “Simple Man” Orozco both agree that the hardest part about boxing is cutting weight. Not only to fighters have to increase their workout, but they have to significantly decrease their food intake.

Mercito “No Mercy” Gesta dropped out of high school when he was 14 years old because he was getting into too many fights, which he laughingly pointed out he never started. His dad saw that he was beating all of his opponents, badly. So his dad took him to a gym to try out boxing. Gesta said that falling in love with boxing was an accident

Gesta’s father was an amateur boxer but never got to take his competition to the next level. Gesta used to spar with his dad as his dad also did kickboxing, Muay Thai and MMA. He watches all of Gesta’s fights on YouTube and then calls him with feedback.

While living in Kansas, Antonio “Simple Man” Orozco won the Ringside Nationals in 2004. That same year, he competed in the Junior Olympics and won the bronze in Louisiana and took silver in Texas. He earned the opportunity to compete in the National Golden Gloves but chose to graduate high school instead. It’s a decision he stands by today.
